Description

Overview

MATEK SAM-M10Q is a GNSS module (no compass) based on the u-blox M10 standard precision GNSS platform. It supports concurrent reception of four GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou) for L1 signals, with u-blox Super-S (Super-Signal) technology designed to improve RF sensitivity and dynamic position accuracy in non-line-of-sight scenarios.

The built-in high-gain patch antenna (15*15*4mm) is designed to balance performance and compact size, with an omnidirectional radiation pattern to increase installation flexibility.

Key Features

  • u-blox M10 series GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou)
  • No magnetic compass built-in
  • UART (TX, RX) interface
  • JST-GH-4P connector (SM04B-GHS-TB), 1.27mm pitch
  • GNSS PPS LED (Green): solid ON after power-on; blinking (1Hz) when GNSS gets 3D fix
  • Reset pad available (RST)

Whats Included

  • 1x GNSS module
  • 1x JST-GH-4P to JST-GH-4P 20cm silicon wire

Wiring and Settings

  • GNSS 5V to flight controller 4~9V
  • GNSS RX to flight controller UART_TX
  • GNSS TX to flight controller UART_RX
  • GNSS G to flight controller GND

Tips and Notes

  • INAV 5.0.0, Betaflight 4.3.0, ArduPilot 4.3 or newer is required.
  • UBlox NEO-M9N, MAX-M10S, SAM-M10Q series do not have dataflash built in. Once GNSS is powered off and the supercapacitor runs out, settings will revert to default.
  • UBX protocol is bidirectional. Flight controller firmware can change settings on GPS via UBX protocol; it is not necessary to set GNSS module baud and frequency in u-center.
  • Default configuration on SAM-M10Q-00B with u-blox FW 5.1: concurrent reception of GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and BeiDou B1C with QZSS and SBAS enabled.
  • Starting with u-blox GNSS FW3.01, timepulse is aligned with UTC time and becomes valid only after leap second download (up to 12.5 min). PPS LED may not blink immediately after 3D fix.
  • Reset: bridging RST pad to Ground for at least 100 ms triggers a cold start. RESET deletes all information and triggers a cold start; use as a recovery option if wiring/setup is correct but the flight controller cannot detect the GNSS module.
  • Scratches on the ceramic antenna can be the result of antenna tuning.

Details

MatekSys Servo PDB SVPDB-12S provides VBAT (955V) and GND connections with a compact 50mm board layout for tidy wiring.

Selectable Vx voltage (5V, 6V, or 8V) is set by solder jumpers, with VBAT and signal pads laid out for straightforward wiring to a flight controller and power system.

Labeled S3S8 connections and VBAT routing help plan clean servo wiring from the flight controller to multiple SVPDB modules.

The Matek H7A3-SLIM flight controller provides clearly labeled solder pads for UARTs, CAN, camera/VTx video, and power connections to simplify wiring.
